About us

In what was once a disused pub in the heart of the Surrey Hills, The Abinger Cookery School was founded by a small team of culinary enthusiasts with a wealth of experience and a passion for all things foodie. Within our first year, we teamed up with the gourmet ski chalet holiday specialists Fish&Pips, and together, we teach our students all about excellent food and diverse recipes within a bustling and vibrant industry.

We aim to fire up your imagination with courses that are practical, inspired and of course – fun! We believe in utilising the best produce that Britain has to offer and most of our ingredients are sourced from fantastic suppliers, right on our doorstep.

Our Head Chef Jake Pinn comes to Abinger with a wealth of experience in working in both hotels and in high end private cheffing on luxury yachts.  Jake joined the team in May 2015 and brings with him new and fresh ideas.

The Abinger team adore food and look forward to passing that love on to you.

Lewis Davies

Lewis grew up in the Midlands but has ventured south and now lives with his wife Victoria and two children, Thomas and Holly in Godalming.  Lewis developed his passion for learning about food at a young age.  After leaving school, he pursued a course in Hotel Management at the Birmingham college of Food and Tourism which taught him a great deal about the hospitality industry.

Lewis’s other passion throughout life has been property development and he has made a successful career to date on his portfolio of residential projects.  The Abinger has been the perfect opportunity to combine both these areas, turning a disused pub into a beautiful cookery school!

Jake Pinn

Jake joined the Abinger team in May 2015 and has taken on the Head Chef role from January 2016.  Jake’s background is in hotel work and private cheffing on super yachts.  Jake has now settled in Reigate with his wife Kieran; they have recently welcomed their new daughter to the world.
